Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ChamLens ("the app"), a mobile expense tracking application developed by RENERPDEV ("we", "us", or "our"). By using ChamLens, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using ChamLens, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

ChamLens is a personal finance application that allows you to:

Track expenses manually or by scanning receipts and QR invoices
Categorize and organize your spending
View spending insights and analytics
Chat with an AI assistant about your spending
Sync your expenses, categories, exchange rates and (optionally) receipt images across your devices
Export your data as CSV
Receive optional daily reminders to log expenses

ChamLens is a local-first application with optional cloud sync. When you use the app anonymously or with local-only mode enabled, data stays on your device. When you sign in and local-only mode is off, your data is synchronized to our servers so it remains available across your devices. You can pause sync at any time from Settings → Storage.

3. Account Registration

You can use ChamLens anonymously without creating an account, in which case all your data stays on your device. To enable cloud sync, multi-device access and AI features, you must create an account using one of the supported authentication methods (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email/password). You are responsible for:

Providing accurate account information
Maintaining the security of your account credentials
All activity that occurs under your account

4. Your Data

Ownership

You retain full ownership of all expense data, receipts, and financial records you create in ChamLens. We do not claim any rights to your content.

Local Storage

A copy of your data is always stored locally on your device so the app works fully offline. You can pause cloud sync at any time by enabling local-only mode in Settings → Storage. We strongly recommend exporting your data periodically as CSV, especially if you use the app in local-only or anonymous mode.

Cloud Sync

When you are signed in and local-only mode is off, your expenses, line items, categories, exchange rates, chat history and — optionally — receipt images are synchronized to our servers (Supabase). Each user's data is isolated by Row Level Security and is encrypted in transit. You control sync at three levels:

Anonymous mode keeps everything on your device by default.
Local-only mode (Settings → Storage) pauses uploads and downloads while signed in.
Receipt image sync (Settings → Storage) is a separate toggle for receipt images.

Data Deletion

You can delete your local data at any time through Settings → Storage → Clear All Data. While signed in with sync enabled, deletions propagate to the cloud and to your other devices as tombstones.

To delete your account, use Settings → Profile → Delete Account in the app or contact us at hello@renerp.dev. Account deletion runs with a 24-hour grace period: during that window the account is marked for deletion but not yet purged, and you can cancel the deletion by signing in again. After 24 hours, all server-side data tied to your account is permanently erased by an automated cleanup job and cannot be recovered.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the app for any illegal purpose
Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
Interfere with or disrupt the app's servers or infrastructure
Submit false or misleading merchant data through QR scanning
Use automated systems to access the app

6. Merchant Data Contributions

When you scan a QR invoice and provide a merchant name, this information may be shared with other ChamLens users to improve automatic merchant recognition. By contributing merchant data, you confirm that:

The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge
You have the right to share this information
The data does not contain personal or sensitive information beyond business names and categories

7. AI Features, Insights, and Credits

ChamLens provides AI-generated spending insights and receipt extraction. These features:

Are provided for informational purposes only
Should not be relied upon for financial, tax, or legal decisions
May contain errors or inaccuracies
Are computed locally on your device by default; cloud-based AI insights consume credits

We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated insights.

AI Credits

New accounts receive a one-time grant of free credits upon registration.
Cloud-based AI features (such as smart insights) consume credits. When credits are exhausted, the app falls back to local on-device analysis at no cost.
Credits are non-transferable, have no monetary value, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Free signup credits are granted once per email address. Deleting and recreating an account with the same email will not result in additional free credits.
We may periodically grant additional credits ("renewal credits") on a recurring schedule. Renewal credits that are not used within the specified expiration window will expire and be removed from your balance. Signup credits, admin-granted credits, and purchased credits do not expire.
When credits are consumed, credits closest to expiration are used first.
We reserve the right to modify credit pricing, grant amounts, renewal schedules, expiration windows, and feature costs at any time.

8. Push Notifications

ChamLens may send push notifications for daily expense reminders. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through Settings → Reminders or your device's system settings.

9. Third-Party Services

ChamLens integrates with third-party services for authentication and infrastructure. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms:

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.

10. Intellectual Property

ChamLens, including its design, code, icons, and branding, is the intellectual property of RENERPDEV. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the app without our written permission.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

ChamLens is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
Accuracy or reliability of AI-generated insights
Uninterrupted or error-free operation, including continuous availability of cloud sync
Security of locally stored data against device loss or theft

Cloud sync depends on third-party infrastructure (Supabase, your internet connection) and may be temporarily unavailable. You should not rely on the cloud copy as your only backup — export to CSV regularly.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RENERPDEV shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

Loss of data stored locally on your device
Loss of data stored on our servers due to outages, sync conflicts, or accidental deletion (including account deletion after the 24-hour grace period)
Inaccurate receipt extraction or expense categorization
Service interruptions, sync delays, or unavailability
Unauthorized access to your account
Any other use of or inability to use the app

13. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue ChamLens at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of ChamLens after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
